Obituary: Kenneth F. Kelton
|
|
|
|
Kenneth F. Kelton, the Arthur Holly Compton Professor Emeritus of Physics at Washington University in St. Louis and fellow of MCSS, died Oct. 28, 2025. For nearly four decades, Kelton helped foster the remarkable growth in the Department of Physics which he chaired from 2007 to 2012. He retired from WashU in 2024.
A celebration of his life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 6800 Washington Ave. St. Louis, MO.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Winger Food Pantry in care of Trinity Presbyterian Church where Ken has been a member since 1993.

Dean's Award for Graduate Research Excellence
|
|
|
Gabrielle Adams, a McDonnell Center Graduate Fellow in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences is a finalist for the 2025 Dean's Award for Graduate Research Excellence. She graduated from The Ohio State University in May 2023 with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a minor in planetary science. With advisor Katharina Lodders, she models gas and condensation chemistry in evolved stars using chemical thermodynamics to understand stardust formation from such dying stars.

MCSS Postdoctoral Fellowship Opening
|
|
|
MCSS is hiring a postdoctoral fellow in the broad field of space sciences. We welcome applicants with interests in Astromaterials, Cosmochemistry, or Meteoritics; Experimental, Theoretical, or Observational Astrophysics; Planetary Science; Particle and Nuclear Physics, Cosmology and Gravitation; and Earth as a Planet. In their application materials, the candidate should describe their research interests and list potential collaborators from among the faculty fellows of the MCSS.
