Symone Franks chose to come to UMKC because of the undergraduate research opportunities and diverse student body. In her time here, Franks has been motivated and inspired by her fellow students and professors.

“I admire everyone’s goal for excellence here at UMKC,” said Franks. “When I talk to other students and faculty, everyone seems to have something big that they are working toward.”

UMKC Chancellor Mauli Agrawal, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and UM System President Mun Choi pose together for a photo with the Bloch family cutting the ribbon of Bloch Heritage Hall in the background.

Heard around campus:

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas spoke at the 100th Birthday Celebration for Henry W. Bloch. The namesake of the UMKC Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Management was the founder of H&R Block and a philanthropist in the Kansas City community.

“This is what Kansas City is all about, and what I have had the opportunity to learn that Henry Bloch was all about...He always believed in Kansas City as one of the great cities of the world. And thanks to him, the Bloch School is second to none among business schools in our country.” - Quinton Lucas
