Happy New Year, CAAP Network!
I am beyond excited to be writing our first message of 2022 as the newly appointed CEO here at CAAP. Since starting only two weeks ago, I’ve had the opportunity to begin meetings with our team and member Agency leaders. I look forward to meeting you all in the upcoming year.
In my initial conversations, my focus has been on three things: listening, seeking to understand, and learning how CAAP creates value for you, our stakeholders. We’ve also begun thinking through simple efficiencies.
Starting this month, we will begin evolving the structure and look of our newsletters. One monthly newsletter will now capture information on CAAP updates, educational opportunities, DEI insights, agency spotlights, and career opportunities. We hope you enjoy the new look and feel!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention “January is Poverty Awareness Month”, the month-long initiative to raise awareness and call attention to the growth of poverty in America. We all know and have likely experienced first-hand, the devastation that the pandemic has created. As we continue to navigate through new virus strains and the economic challenges they create, I encourage us all to make an extra concentrated effort to draw the public’s attention to one of the most pervasive and persistent problems our country faces, poverty.
Lastly, over the next month, let us be intentional through our Agency and personal platforms to highlight the collective action we can take - stressing how simple actions can make a difference. Help people be informed and break common myths. Encourage volunteer opportunities and donated funds. Share your own and CAAP’s social media posts about this very topic.
Collectively, we are stronger. We are making a difference here in Pennsylvania!
Thank you for all that you do - I look forward to serving you and seeing what we can accomplish in 2022.
Sincerely,
