NAM is proud of this past year’s accomplishments, but this is just the beginning. For more than 200 years, our society has proudly grown to become one of the largest local medical societies in Tennessee. Even when facing the challenges of COVID, NAM has remained committed to providing our members with support and service in every way possible. NAM continues to focus on three pillars:
Relationships built through membership in NAM are increasingly vital as our healthcare landscape evolves. These relationships require our members’ active participation and our finding common ground. This is an opportune time to become a member of the Nashville Academy of Medicine and make a difference for the medical landscape of Middle Tennessee.
As we all provide patient-centered, high-value care to patients, I encourage us to listen and value the contributions and approaches of others. I hope that you will be an active and engaged member of NAM for many years to come. I am looking forward to serving you as president during 2022 to build on the strong foundation laid by others who have led before me.
Sincerely,
Gregg Shepard, MD

| All Member virtual event tonight | |
|
Tonight - Thursday, Jan. 20, at 6:30 pm CST, join NAM and TMA for our next All Member virtual meeting. During this time, we will take a closer look at the prior authorization process. We will examine best practices, ways to decrease care delays and alleviate hassles in an effort to avoid negative clinical outcomes for patients. Our featured speaker will be NAM member, Natalie Dickson, MD, chair of TMA’s Insurance Issues Committee. Pre-registration is required, but attendance is free.

NAM members and other physicians throughout the state will volunteer through TMA to serve as Doctor of the Day during the 2022 legislative session. Volunteers will serve on Tuesdays from February 1 - April 26, 2022.
The Doctor of the Day program has shown to be a highly effective grassroots tool by providing an exclusive opportunity for our members to show policymakers the value of quality healthcare from a physician's perspective. Volunteers spend one day at the capitol and have the unique opportunity to interact with legislators on the House and Senate floors, attend committee meetings and get a first-hand look at the legislative process.
