A new way to think about our commitment
Our next call is
Wednesday, September 16.
Please join us.
I am grateful to have learned about her.
Valerie Kaur is an American activist, documentary filmmaker, lawyer, educator, and faith leader and author, as well as the founder of the Revolutionary Love Project.
When I read this quote of hers, (I that I realized is part of her outstanding TED talk, when I watched it), I was deeply moved, as well as inspired.
......
And so, the mother in me asks, What if? What if this darkness is not the darkness of the tomb, but the darkness of the womb? What if our America is not dead but a country still waiting to be born? What if the story of America is one long labor
What if all our grandmothers and grandfathers are standing behind us now, those who survived genocide and occupation, slavery and Jim Crow, racism and xenophobia and Islamophobia, political oppression and sexual assault? What if they are whispering in our ear: "You are BRAVE."? What if this is our nation’s great transition? What does the midwife tell us to do? “BREATH,” and then: “PUSH.”
Because if we don't push our nation will die. Tonight we breathe, tomorrow we will labor in LOVE, through love, and in our revolutionary love is the magic we will show our children.
Then we need to acknowledge that a solution is possible.
And then we need to commit. To the long, persistent road to altering the status quo.
.......
This reframe is powerful.
We can each choose a way to play a key role in bringing change to our country. It starts with each of us.
Let’s come together and discuss these big ideas, and how they can inspire us in new ways.
Please join us for our next Creators of Change call.
Wednesday, September 16, 4:00pm eastern
Sending big love.
