YCSWA is celebrating more than 10 years without a lost time injury! Thank you to the staff who keep our facilities safe for themselves, their coworkers, and York County. |
Have you seen an area of York County that could use some cleaning up? Ever thought about doing something about it? If so, consider participating in Pick-Up PA or YCSWA’s FREE Litter Disposal Program!
When it comes to keeping Pennsylvania clean, it’s up to all of us to do our part. By working together everyone in Pennsylvania can live, work, and play in a clean and green community. For more information about how to register for Pick-Up PA, visit www.keeppabeautiful.org/programs/pick-up-pa/. Pick-Up PA is a Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful affiliate.
YCSWA’s FREE LITTER DISPOSAL PROGRAM is available for any civic or service group that organizes a community or roadside clean-up. Participants must pre-register and follow guidelines to receive a vehicle placard which will enable them to deliver litter to the York County Resource Recovery Center at no cost. Click the button below for more details about YCSWA’s FREE Litter Disposal Program.

As the mercury rises and plants begin to bloom, we naturally begin to think about how to freshen up our home. If you have more trash than your trash hauler will take or just want to get rid of your spring cleaning garbage ASAP, feel free to take advantage of our Small Load Drop-Off Area located at the York County Resource Recovery Center (YCRRC) on Blackbridge Rd. The YCRRC is open weekdays beginning at 8 am and closing at 4 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am until noon. Visit for directions and fee information.

If you have a cell phone, you use a rechargeable battery. If you use power tools, you use rechargeable batteries. While convenient during their lifetime, rechargeable batteries require proper disposal when they are no longer usable.
Conventional disposal of these types of batteries in your curbside pickup can cause problems! Trash is compacted both in the garbage truck and at our facility. When subjected to intense pressure these batteries combust and ignite causing fires in either garbage trucks or at our facility. Rechargeable batteries should not go into your recycling bin either. Please dispose of them properly!
Visit www.call2recycle.org for a listing of collection sites for these potentially hazardous batteries.
NOTE: Household alkaline batteries like Eveready, Duracell (AA, AAA, 9-volt, C, or D sizes) can be disposed in your regular trash.
|
Please DO NOT place TVs and computers by the curb for your trash hauler to pick up!
Some electronics cannot be disposed of in the trash due to the toxic metals they contain. The Covered Device Recycling Act makes computer recycling and TV recycling mandatory in Pennsylvania.
BY LAW, the following electronics MUST be recycled!
Computers
Computer Monitors
Computer Peripherals (Keyboard, Mouse, Printer, etc.)
Televisions
