Greetings from the Office of Student Veterans!

Hello Duke student veterans. We are finally moving into the cooler fall months which brings with it many academic and sporting events throughout campus, the least of which are midterms! Congratulations to those who have completed their midterms and to those preparing for them, we wish you the best of luck!

Campus-Wide Events

Veteran's Koru Mindfulness - Koru, developed right here at Duke, is an evidence-based program specifically designed for teaching mindfulness and meditation as a way to manage stress and reduce anxiety.
A veterans-only section is being offered this fall beginning on Thursday, 14 October from 1500-1615. Classes will be held at the Student Wellness Center, Rm. 144. Note: registering for the class will place you in each of the upcoming sessions (Oct. 14, 21, 28, and Nov. 4). To register for classes, please click here.

Veterans Victory Lap 5K

Join the Duke Armed Forces Association and the Duke University Office of Student Veterans on Saturday, 13 November (Veterans Day Weekend) for the annual Veterans Victory Lap 5K. Run, walk, ruck, (or even crawl) Duke University's beautiful East Campus as we celebrate the rich history of service in the Armed Forces that exists right here in our region. Join Senior National Intelligence professional Andrew Vail for an informal chat about national security issues that span the Intelligence Community, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the US Government and current events.

Join the Duke University Blue Devils in the Heroes Corner for every home game. Thanks to the generous donations of Duke Football fans, military and first responders are invited to receive complimentary tickets to sit in the "Heroes Corner" section. Save the Date - US Representative David Price 

Join the Duke Military Association on 10 November at 1730 as they welcome US Representative David Price for a discussion about topics associated with Veterans healthcare and mental health services and support, postwar/post-conflict support for returning veterans, and other assorted topics from community-sourced questions. More details about how to join are forthcoming.

Office Hours 

The Office of Student Veterans will hold office hours each Monday from 10:00AM-2:00PM and Friday from 10:00AM-2:00PM in the Crowell Building on East Campus. 
Additionally, the Office of Student Veterans will be engaging with the broader Duke University community by holding additional office hours on West Campus Thursdays from 11:00AM-1:00PM in the Griffith Board Room of the Bryan Center. Stop by with a bite to eat or a cup of coffee and have a chat about veterans' issues.
If you would like to meet outside OSV office hours, please email our graduate assistant Nic at nicholas.harrelson@duke.edu. He will be happy to schedule you to meet with someone in our office.
