During the Texas PTA annual meeting in July 2023, delegates voted to increase the Texas PTA dues by $.50, effective August 1, 2024. As a result, the Texas PTA state dues for each member will automatically change to $2.75, making the total dues for National and State $5.00.
Please note that PTAs are not required to take any action other than adding $0.50 to the total dues amount ($2.25 National + $2.75 Texas + X local dues = total dues amount).
While PTAs are not mandated to adjust their local dues, some may choose to do so to better align with their specific needs. This adjustment could involve increasing or decreasing the local dues portion.

1. Review your local PTA bylaws |
Review the current PTA bylaws. Determine if there is a need to amend the local dues portion and if necessary what the new amount should be.
|
| 2. Determine effective date |
You can choose whether your amended local dues should become effective immediately upon approval, or on August 1, 2024, aligning it with the scheduled automatic dues increase.
|
|
|
3. Obtain approval for bylaws amendment |
Draft the proposed amendment(s) to your Local PTA bylaws, including any modifications to the local dues, if applicable. Notify the membership at least 30 days in advance of the membership meeting concerning these proposed changes.
Please note that membership approval is a necessary step for all bylaw amendments. For detailed guidance, please refer to txpta.org/bylaws.
|
| 4. Submit amendments to Texas PTA |
Please submit your amendment(s) along with a clear indication of the approved effective date reflected in the minutes of the membership meeting. Our team will review the proposed amendment(s) and communicate any necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. To facilitate the review and timely processing of your bylaws amendment(s), submit them to Texas PTA as early as possible.
Texas PTA closes the submission form on June 1 of every year and reopens the form on August 1. If the PTA wants the dues effective August 1, the amendment(s) must be submitted before June 1.

If your PTA has standing rules that have been reviewed in the past two years, you may be eligible for our "Fast Track" option. When amending only the PTA local dues, we will simultaneously handle both the bylaws and standing rules, updating the date stamp on both documents without any extra review time required. All other submissions will follow our regular processing timeline.
