A Message from the Deans - Finals Dress Code
We are almost done with the semester, and our students have done a marvelous job in the face of adversity. By the grace of God, and many prayers, we are still enjoying in-person learning. We are grateful that we have made it this far and are able to have students walking our halls each and every day.
This communication from the Dean’s office has one message with two desired outcomes. Here is our message: We have expectations around dress code during finals (December 11-17), and the increased performance of our students when taking their Finals. We want to let all students know that our standard dress code expectations are still applicable during the days that finals are taking place.
One might ask why we insist on students being in dress code during the finals time when students say they feel more comfortable being dressed down, and thus feel they can perform better on their assessments. On the contrary, studies have found that those who wore dress they perceived as more professional actually performed better and had improved focus on exams.
We truly desire the greatest outcome for our students as they conclude this fall semester. We encourage them to be in dress code, or even better professional dress, when they come to Valor to perform their best on their Final Exams. Thanks for your committed partnership.
