Semester heating up

After a blizzard on the coast and some special January events to kick off the semester, both the thermometer and our youth calendar are heating up in a hurry. Before February is out we'll have gathered around the firepit, held a Super Bowl party, grown together at our Identity Weekend retreat, and more! Adults, we have remaining volunteer needs for all these events as well as others throughout the semester; sign up here or contact me for more info on how to be involved.

I want to draw your attention in particular to Identity Weekend. This past Sunday our older youth had a great planning conversation for the kind of weekend they want and that they want for the newest members of the youth ministry whom we welcomed last month. This is going to be a special time for our students to grow closer to each other, grow closer to Christ, and lean into our ministry identity. There's still time to register your student (via Vanco app or online giving). We need lots of help to make this weekend all it can be for our students; sign up here! Needs for this in-town retreat include chaperones, drivers, and host homes.

Parents of new youth: I definitely want to encourage you to sign up your student; we've found this first retreat opportunity after joining the youth to be a fantastic way for students to get connected with our ministry!

February 5: Youth Firepit night--Looks like a great night to be outside after Wednesday night dinner! Bring a chair.

February 9: Super Bowl LIX--Big game, big night! Bring a snack to share. The game officially kicks off at 5:30, so we'll have the doors open a little early and stay through halftime.

February 12: Painting ceiling tiles after Wednesday night dinner.

February 14-16: Identity Weekend--Our Spring 2025 spiritual formation weekend is focused on using fun and service to gain a stronger sense of who we are in Christ and to let our older students share our ministry identity with our younger students! We'll be staying at host homes, studying the Bible together, serving others, and having lots of fun along the way. Cost: $55, or $45 for additional siblings in the same family thanks to our youth retreat scholarship fund. Contact Geoff if money is an issue; we never want that to be the reason a student misses out. Registration is open via the Vanco app as well as our online giving portal and will run through noon on Monday, February 10. Adults, we also have plenty of volunteer needs! This includes drivers, chaperones, and host homes.

February 19: Trivia night with the adults in the Worship Center after Wednesday night dinner.

February 26: Homework night in the Youth Suite after Wednesday night dinner.

March 4: Pancake Dinner

March 5: Ash Wednesday Service

March 19: Top Golf--RSVP required, more details to come

April 27: Outdoor Worship and Lunch Fundraiser--Last year was great, so let's do it again! We'll cook out for our church family as a youth fundraiser following the spring worship on the lawn date.

May 4: Baccalaureate Sunday

-9:30am: Brunch in the Youth Suite

-10:45am: Baccalaureate Service

-5:30pm: Youth/Family Volleyball Night

Scholarships 2025

Graduation is coming for our seniors, which means college is coming right after! Like last year, we'll keep this article block up throughout the spring as new scholarship windows open.

Scholarships offered through the UMC's General Board of Higher Education & Ministry are taking applications completed by March 31. Find more info or apply here.
