A Celebration of Black History - Honoring our Philly Sports Heros

Learn more about the history of the Black athletes of Philly! Hang out with Penn basketball athletes and experience fun activities with new friends!

City-Wide Updates

On April 15, 2021, Mayor Kenney will propose a budget to City Council for the coming year. Due to COVID-19, the City is facing difficult budget choices this year. Before the City finishes drafting the budget, they want to hear from Philadelphians like you on how the City should focus its spending. Take the survery to have your voice heard.

UACS Nights and Service Link

Save the date for March 1st!
UACS Nights is teaming up with Service Link to provide information regarding public benefits and COVID-19 resources to the community. 

Service Link will connect participants with resources such as housing, food, utilities, adult education, adult day care, employment, finances, transportation, legal services, and mental health.
Community Advisory Board Meet & Greet Review
The Netter Center's Community Advisory Board (CAB) and Student Advisory Board (SAB) met on Monday, February 15th to strengthen their collaboration and connection, and CAB shared their advice and stories about Penn-West Philadelphia partnerships. The event featured Rev Dr. Joe Nock (CAB Vice Chair), Jettie Newkirk, Esq.(CAB Chair), Principal Richard Gordon (CAB and Robeson), and Quinton Morrow (Robeson High Schooler). Clarifi Financial Support Services 

CHOP’s Healthier Together program and Clarifi have partnered to offer free financial literacy counseling for West Philadelphia families. Clarifi provides financial services that work for everybody! You decide what you’d like to work on during the session(s), and Clarifi will support you. 
Through this program you can receive financial counseling on 
credit building advice and coaching, budgeting and savings counseling, creating an emergency or recovery plan, 
529 Keystone Savings planning, and much more!

Letter to Future Investors Phase II Visioning 46th & Market
Letter to Future Investors has announced the start of Phase II of their "Visioning 46th & Market," based on answers from the previous survey, focus groups will dig deeper into four specific topics. To sign up or learn more about these focus groups, click HERE!

Safety Captain Initiative

The Safety Captain Initiative is an afterschool job for teens that uses a project based learning approach to answer questions like: What makes a youth friendly neighborhood? What makes a neighborhood safe?
The job includes getting paid to learn about, research and discuss concepts like community, safety, health & wellness. As part of your job, you will take part in workshops, go on field trips, and will learn how to conduct community asset mapping, and more! Click HERE to learn more!
WPSDI No-Cost CDL Training and Jop Opportunties 
WPSDI is searching for customer-service superstars who have had a valid driver’s license for at least the last three years, with open schedule availability, and who possess an interest in growing a career at SEPTA. Training is online, but testing is in-person. Access to a laptop or desktop computer, broadband internet, a webcam, and a word processing program like Microsoft Word or similar are essential to training completion.
