Faculty Receive Funding for Interdisciplinary Research |
The Institute for Matter and Systems at Georgia Tech has selected new interdisciplinary research initiatives to receive seed funding. Richard Barke and Joe F. Bozeman III (Public Policy), Noura Howell (Literature, Media, and Communication), Margaret E. Kosal (International Affairs), and Usha Nair-Reichert (Economics) will lead three of the seven initiatives selected.

| Difficult Discussions: From Conflict to Constructive Conversation |
College classrooms should be spaces where students can practice respectful dialogue, even when they disagree. While these conversations won’t go perfectly every time, the Center for Teaching and Learning shares a few intentional steps you can take to steer your students into productive, respectful dialogue.

Faculty and staff in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts participated in #PinkOut by wearing pink each Wednesday during the month of October, raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting the cause, and celebrating together on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Cici McNamara and Jason Lindo (Economics) received an award from the Institute for Humane Studies for their project exploring the impact of occupational licensing changes on mental health care supply and outcomes.

R. Lincoln Hines (International Affairs) recently contributed to a roundtable on Indo-Pacific space programs and China’s space policy.
|

Caitlin Kelly (Literature, Media, and Communication) spoke on "Guidebooks, Itineraries, and Ways of Seeing: Scripting Tourism in Northanger Abbey" at the Jane Austen Society of North America's annual meeting. Kelly also presented on "Threshold Concepts, Emergent Technologies, and Developing Future Writing Center Leaders" at the International Writing Centers Association conference.

At the Simpoziumi Filozofema in Kosovo, Robert Rosenberger (Public Policy) presented "Where Don Ihde's Philosophy Should Lead Us Next," reflecting on Ihde's career and emphasizing his connections to American pragmatism and feminist epistemology. Rosenberger also published a remembrance of Ihde, who passed away earlier this year.

The mimosa brunch tailgate begins two hours before kickoff at 10 a.m., followed by the Georgia Tech vs. Miami game at Bobby Dodd Stadium at 12 p.m. RSVP requested.
