Scheduled Drupal Outage

Drupal will be unavailable due to a scheduled maintenance that will occur from 11:00 PM on Sept. 24 to 7:00 AM on Sept. 25. Please do not access Drupal for any changes during this time period as they will not save.

Name Change

The Center for Community Engagement is now the Center for Community Impact. The UCM web team has updated all references across the ohio.edu website to the name as well as URL, as the website now lives at https://www.ohio.edu/community-impact. (It previously lived at /student-success/community-engagement.) Please use the new name and URL in any future web edits.

Blackboard Link Update

All links pointing to Blackboard have been removed from the website or updated to direct users to Canvas at https://canvas.ohio.edu. Starting this semester (Fall 2025), no more instruction will occur in the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) — courses are now loaded exclusively in Canvas LMS. Should you find any Blackboard references that may have been missed, please update the page accordingly.

Remember that there is a link to Canvas in the top green bar of ohio.edu, which appears on every single webpage, so a separate link on the page is likely not needed.

The best way to inform everyone about your upcoming events is to create that event in the Calendar of University Events. Events can be added to your group and tagged with special keywords to make them easy to find and sortable. Events can then be pulled into your website as a feed based on group or tag, depending on your needs.

Building Accessible Pages with Headings

Headings do more than style text — they create structure, improve readability, and support accessibility.

Join the OHIO Digital Accessibility Network (OHIO-DAN) in September for a hands-on session led by Michael Greene, Learning and Development Administrator. In this workshop, participants will see how using headings incorrectly creates problems and then work together to fix a document.

All web editors are welcome—this is a practical, learn-by-doing session.

Web Editors Forum

The Web Editors Forum is a monthly meeting for all web editors, publishers, and content managers. We come together to discuss topics of interest to the group to improve our websites and the processes we use.

Open Labs

Open labs are offered so that web editors can schedule focused time to work on their web pages and have assistance available. Shelli Minton, Web CMS Specialist and Training Supervisor, will be logged in to answer questions as needed.

Schedule: every Tuesday 2:00-3:00pm and every Thursday 9:00-10:00am
