Wildfire Evacuation Drill May 21; Community Meeting May 4

There will be a Wildland Fire Evacuation Exercise in Ken-Caryl Valley and the North Ranch on Saturday, May 21 to simulate a real-life emergency and test evacuation procedures. The exercise will begin at 8 a.m., and the voluntary evacuation will start at 9 a.m. There will be a community meeting on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at Chatfield Senior High to discuss the evacuation exercise and allow residents to ask questions. Some area schools have graduation May 21, but please know that no roads will be closed and residents will have complete access to the area. The only difference is an increase in law enforcement and fire apparatus traffic in the area, which should end by 2 p.m. Residents of the area will receive an evacuation notice via telephone. Residents who have signed up for CodeRed will also receive notification via smartphone.

Summer Pool Pass Validation:
New Keychain Cards

The pools open Saturday, May 28, but Summer Pool Pass Validation began today. We will no longer use the Finger Vein Scanner. Residents will be issued a keychain card that can be scanned for pool entrance. Please be sure you’ve set up your online account with our new Active Net registration system prior to coming in to the Ranch House (open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) or Community Center (open daily, see hours) to validate your pool pass. You must show proof of residency within the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District boundaries by presenting one of the following:

Valid Colorado Driver’s License
Warranty Deed
Colorado ID
Lease Agreement
Property Tax Statement

Proof of residency must have applicant’s name and valid KCRMD address. If you have any questions, call the Ranch House at 303-979-4070.

Manor House Liquor License

The Manor House submitted an application to Jefferson County to modify its liquor license to allow alcohol to be sold and consumed on the lawn and helipad areas. This is similar to what was allowed last summer and is in response to patron requests to allow alcohol in those areas. The next Liquor Licensing Authority meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 5 at 9 a.m. at the Jefferson County Administration and Courts building. For details, see Jeffco's Liquor License website.

Trash and Recycling Tote Update

Waste Connections said they finished delivering the new trash and recycling totes to those residents who ordered the totes by April 22. If you did not receive your totes and you placed your order by April 22, please email Nadine at Waste Connections at NadineAn@WasteConnections.com so she can make sure you get the totes. Thank you for your patience throughout this process.

Parent Lecture Series:
Medical Attention

Join Family Nurse Practitioner Michelle Navarro from The Little Clinic for a presentation that will cover key indicators to consider when deciding whether or not to bring your child into a medical office. Topics will include how long to wait, dangerous symptoms, fevers and other information. Light refreshments will be served, and childcare will be provided.

Date: Thursday, May 5
Time: 5:15-6:15 p.m.
Location: Community Center
Fee: Now FREE!

Please register online for Course No. 32331 so we know how many people to expect.

Show Your Interest in the Optional Composting Service

Waste Connections will offer an optional composting service later this year if at least 500 Ken-Caryl residents sign up for the fee-based option. Composting would be picked up every other week, and the fee of $11 per month would be billed directly to the homeowner. Items that can be composted include food, food-soiled paper and plant materials. If you are interested in this service, please email kencarylco@wasteconnections.com or call the Ranch House at 303-979-1876 and provide your name, email, phone number and address. If enough owners are interested, Waste Connections will contact you to complete the signup process.
