A Note from the President

Dear LSU Families,

Earlier this month, both an LSU Professor and an LSU department were recognized by the White House. President Trump named Graça Vicente and the LSU Office of Strategic Initiatives as recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. Only 27 individuals and 14 organizational awardees received the PAESMEM, an award reflecting truly outstanding mentors who are instrumental in educating and training the next generation.

I share this with you not just to congratulate Dr. Vicente and the exceptional individuals in OSI, but also to demonstrate the caliber of faculty and the quality of student support services your Tigers have at their disposal during their time at LSU. When we say our faculty, staff, and students are changing the world, it’s not hyperbole – it’s a fact. And you are part of the community that makes it all possible.

As always, thank you for trusting us with your Tiger.

Sincerely,
F. King Alexander
LSU President
