Summer Programs
URGENT: Seeking 2-week Host Family for NCS Visitor
As part of The Academy's membership in the Network of Complementary Schools, we hope to host Jonathan, a senior at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, NJ for two weeks in May. Jonathan shares that he is a member of the National Honor Society, participates as a leader in his school's Model UN delegation, loves to listen to music, write poetry, and program games and mobile applications. He hopes to learn some guitar-playing and Latin skills while at The Academy, and looks forward to sharing stories about his own background with his host family and community. We have a long-standing relationship with St. Benedict's, and the students are always fantastic (though sadly temporary) additions to our school. If your family is interested in hosting Jonathan, please contact Nora Bates Zale ASAP.
Sustainability Council Electronics Recycling Drive
If you've recently updated your mobile devices or other electronics and need to properly dispose of the old items, the sustainability council can help you do just that! For your conveniece, they will be accepting electronics during the family - teacher conferences on April 7 & 8 from noon to 6:00 PM. More information is available here.

Climate Connections Class with   Mr. Forbes
This week 7th Graders in Climate Connections are completing their island map projects.
Each map is of an imaginary place, but has all the features of a real topographic map, including contour lines, a scale, and a key. Next week students will draw cross-sections and possibly create 3-D cardboard models of their maps.
Senior Project Film Screening and Benefit Dinner -
Saturday April 16
Senior Emma Lonergan's senior project is an attempt to raise awareness about sex trafficking. She will host a screening of the film Half the Sky, preceded by a benefit dinner and followed by a discussion. Inspired by the book written by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, the film follows several women who have turned oppression into opportunity. The money raised by this event will provide direct support to young women in Cambodia, who are escaping the sex trafficking industry and hoping to start new lives. The meal will start at 5:00 PM and the movie at 6:00 PM.
From the APC
First, many thanks to parent Christina Gabriel and all her hardworking parent volunteers (not to mention hardworking students!) for the amazing drama production. What a powerful presentation!
Second, the Parent Council will be meeting Wednesday, April 6 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Williamsburg home of Sara Wein and Neal Anderson (click these links for the meeting agenda and directions). We would love to have you join us for a discussion of all things Academy. Minutes from our last meeting are available here
Finally, mark your calendar for May 21, the APC's third annual work bee, where we scrape and paint and rake and weed together for a few hours on a Saturday morning. That morning is also the final APC meeting of the year, where we elect co-chairs and set spending priorities for the coming year.
Grove Ad Sales
Time to purchase a yearbook ad for your graduating senior - or your business!
Grove ad sales are now well underway - all students have been assigned ads and many have already sold theirs! Today is the deadline for students to sell the ads that have been assigned to them, and starting next week, all unsold ads go up for grabs for individuals and classes to compete for the most ads sold.
The sale of an ad generates a free yearbook for the selling student; students who do not sell an ad will be charged for the cost of their yearbook.
Students and classes who sell the most ads earn prizes in addition to free yearbooks.

For parents who have a senior graduating and would like to congratulate them (a long standing tradition) or who would like to have their business place an ad
, please review this link for details on sizes and specs, complete this ad contract, and send it along with the ad to grove@charlemont.org, or send in a hard copy. Ads, questions or concerns can be directed to Nora Bates Zale. The deadline for ad sales is April 22..
