See what's happing at MREA this Fall!
Dear friend,
Welcome to October!
I'd like to open this edition of eReNews with a quote from Wendell Berry, "The care of the Earth is our most ancient and most worthy, and after all our most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it and to foster its renewal is our only hope."
Although we may not be able to see nature's growth as we enter into the Fall season, we can find renewal in ourselves and the way we treat the world around us.
To help you along the way, we've put together a variety of courses and events in October that offer up many opportunities to enjoy the earth, spread hope, and foster its renewal:
  • Explore clean energy in the state of Wisconsin on the 2017 statewide Solar Tour, held Oct. 7th
  • Join us in Custer Oct. 3-12 for our on-site classroom and lab training solar series at MREA
  • Cuddle up with a nice cup of joe and register for any of our upcoming online courses
  • Join us at our MREA Brisk Fall Clean Up Day November 4
  • Show your support by renewing/joining MREA as a member
Thank you for your continued support of clean energy and sustainable living and a big thanks to all of those who helped make the first ever Minnesota Energy Fair a success!
-Shine On

MREA Solar Finance Simulator is Live
The Solar Finance Simulator on solarprojectbuilder.org is live and ready to be explored! Designed for tax-exempt and taxable entities looking to compare solar photovoltaic investment types, the tool allows users to simulate and compare financial projections for four types of investment options, including power purchase agreement (PPA), debt financing, direct ownership, and operating lease. The tool can guide or validate potential projects, compare proposals, or help users become more familiar with financing structures and common transaction costs by working through our sample projects.
MREA Offers Solar Technical Assistance
With more than two decades of experience in solar energy projects, the MREA is now offering technical assistance to help institutions develop highest value, lowest cost solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. Though financial performance of a PV project may exceed return requirements, it can still be challenging for institutions (e.g. municipalities, universities, schools, hospitals) to define projects that meet their needs and to engage the private market to procure the best services available. MREA Technical Assistance can help!
For more information, please email PVhelp@midwestrenew.org or visit www.GrowSolar.org/Solar-PV-Assistance-Institutions.
