Dear Tufts community members,
In light of the recent shootings at Brown University, I want to share an update with our community about building security and access across the university. All changes are precautionary measures and not in response to any specific threat. There are no credible threats to the Tufts community at this time.
Medford/Somerville campus: Out of an abundance of caution, we are enhancing our security through the end of the exam period to ensure everyone feels safe and supported on campus. Whenever possible, buildings on the Medford/Somerville campus will be card-access through Thursday, December 18. In instances where buildings are not able to be card-access, we will have public safety at the main entrance. Buildings that were already card-access, such as residence halls, will remain so after December 18.
Boston Health Sciences and Boston SMFA campuses: Buildings are already on card access and will remain so moving forward.
Grafton campus (Cummings School): We will take steps to limit access to buildings, while ensuring students' continued access to exam and study spaces. When possible, buildings will be card-access only. In addition, TUPD will increase patrols throughout campus.
Need a new Tufts ID?
If you do not have a Tufts ID, please visit Tufts Public Safety at 574 Boston Ave., 1st Floor between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to request a new card. The replacement fee will be waived during the study and exam period (through December 18).
