The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians is seeking resolutions for the 2023 Congress of Delegates (COD) meeting. Last year, the COD tackled issues such as unfair non-compete contract practices, prior authorization, advocacy education for residents, and strengthening our policy to support our colleagues who practice full scope, including obstetrics.

Did you complete your Fellows Application but haven’t taken the oath or would you like to become a Fellow?
The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP) will hold a Convocation Ceremony at the Annual Meeting, Sunday afternoon, November 12, 2023, for members eligible to receive their Degree of Fellow. The deadline to apply for the Degree of Fellow for 2023 is September 1. All approved 2023 applicants will be eligible to take their oath and receive their degree of Fellow at the 2023 GAFP Annual Meeting. | Read more

Georgia Medicaid to Revalidate 84,000 Facility & Provider Locations by September 15, 2023 |
The Chapter learned in late July that the Georgia Medicaid program under the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) has identified 84,000 facility, physician, and provider locations that were passed due for revalidation. Revalidation for these locations must be completed by September 15, 2023, or the location will be suspended. The suspension will result in no payment for services provided at that location. Further, after 30 days, a new Medicaid provider enrollment application must be completed for that location to continue in the Medicaid program. | Read more

The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance welcomes Danielle Towns as the Statewide Manager of Tar Wars effective August 1, 2023. Danielle comes to GFHA with more than 15 years of experience in youth development, and program and project management, including leadership positions with several national youth-serving non-profits.

MercyMed Columbus Awarded Grant from GHFA to Expand Access To Affordable Primary Healthcare in West Georgia |
The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance recently awarded MercyMed Columbus charitable care clinic a Community Health Grant award in support of MercyMed’s “Expanding Access To Affordable Primary Healthcare in West Georgia” project, which will increase the number of patients the clinic treats annually by 50 percent.

| GHFA Awarded Grant from Molina Healthcare To Fund Rural Assistance Grants Across Georgia |
Molina Healthcare recently awarded the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance – the philanthropic arm of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians – a $75,000 grant to provide Rural Assistance Grants to underserved communities across Georgia. The grant was made in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.
