Christos Athanasiou, assistant professor in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, has been selected to receive the 2025 Eshelby Mechanics Award for Young Faculty. Presented annually by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the award recognizes rapidly emerging junior faculty who exemplify originality, depth, and impact in the development and application of mechanics.

| Frontier Simulations Test Turbulence Theories at Record 35 trillion Grid Points |
Using the Frontier supercomputer at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology, including Prof. P. K. Yeung, who leads the project, have performed the largest direct numerical simulation (DNS) of turbulence in three dimensions, attaining a record resolution of 35 trillion grid points.
