Clarksville Youth Orchestra joining APSU’s Community School of the Arts
The Community School of the Arts (CSA) at Austin Peay State University continues to expand its offerings, and this spring, the school is adding the Clarksville Youth Orchestra’s high-quality instruction and performance opportunities to the mix.
The new partnership began on Monday, Jan. 10, when Clarksville Youth Orchestra (CYO) will hold spring 2022 auditions from 5-7 p.m. But, there are other opportunities if you missed the initial auditions.
CYO’s first rehearsal will be on Monday, Jan. 24, and the orchestra will perform regularly in APSU’s George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall. The spring will culminate with a concert. Read more HERE
APSU’s New Gallery starts 2022 with Christina A. West’s mere mortals
The New Gallery, with support from The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the Department of Art + Design, is pleased to present mere mortals by Christina A. West to continue an engaging 2021-22 exhibition season.
“I am excited to bring the work of Christina A. West to Clarksville as her sculptures and installations have been exhibited by world-class art venues such as the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh and the Atlanta Contemporary,” said The New Gallery Director Michael Dickins. “Her work deals with the human figure as a way to try to understand and connect with others. It is informed by contemporary art criticism and social theory about the gaze as a way to call out dynamics and politics that complicate the act of looking. Read more HERE
