U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced a new citizenship test would go into effect as of December 1, 2020. Catherine was recently interviewed by C-VILLE Weekly about the changes and challenges of the new test.
We were very pleased that C-VILLE Weekly brought attention to the changes USCIS has made to the Citizenship Test. When the last test revision went into effect in 2008, USCIS provided a one-year lag between sharing the new test publically (September, 2007) and putting it into effect for applicants (those who applied beginning October 1, 2008). With USCIS reducing that window to three weeks after the current revisions, we are working very hard to revise our citizenship courses and develop new resources to support the efforts of our tutors and students who will be required to take the new test. We are excited to have 60 students enrolled in our new session of citizenship classes beginning this week. We are able to meet the needs of so many students thanks to our wonderful volunteer instructors, Paige Zelikow and Nancy Cohen.
