Halloween costumes are an opportunity to have fun and to be creative with consideration for others. As you think about how you intend to dress up this Halloween, we invite you to do so in ways that nurture our aspirations of being a flourishing community.
Although individuals have the freedom to choose how they dress, costumes that mock, stereotype, or appropriate religious, cultural, or social identities of any individual or group are counter to our shared university values. We invite you to choose costumes that uplift our common humanity, and that contribute to our goal of building a community where everyone can flourish.
We aspire to be a flourishing community rooted in the principles of love, authenticity, courage, and empathy, one that calls us to grow together and align action with our values. Read more about how we can build a flourishing community together.
We are Ducks, and ducks fly together and take care of each other. Thank you for being an integral part of this special community. Although it is not always easy, we encourage you to intervene if safe to do so—or contact the appropriate resource—in situations that are harmful. Be an active bystander.
Be well,
