Imagine stepping into a world where blue frogs cling to dripping leaves, piranhas swirl in dark water, and the air smells like rain-soaked earth. For the first time at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, now you can. Amazon Basin: An Adventure for the Senses has officially opened.
|
|
|
Explore five distinct worlds—dense rainforests where dart frogs flash neon warnings, flooded forests where caimans glide beneath the trees, rivers alive with piranhas and electric eels, open savannas shaped by fire, and misty cloud forests clinging to the Andes. Thirteen enclosures. Dozens of species. Every step reveals something unexpected.

Celebrating 51 years of Skinny! |
Did you join us yesterday in celebrating Skinny's birthday? At 51 years old, she's the oldest recorded harbor seal in the world!
In nature, harbor seals can live into their twenties, while those in human care can live into their thirties. The fact that Skinny is turning 51 years old is a testament to the absolutely amazing geriatric animal care she receives.

Upcoming Animal Birthdays |
Skinny may be the oldest, but she's not the only birthday we're celebrating this month! Join us on June 4th in celebrating Jackson & Palmer turning 3! You can catch one or both of our ambassador animal skunks during an ambassador presentation.
June also marks the start of hatch season, so say happy to birthday to Pip the Pelican (turning 10), Olive the turkey vulture (turning 18), and a whole batch of our seabird aviary birds as well!
