Student speech submissions due March 13
Think you know a graduating student with a great story to share? Share with your students! The College is seeking a student to be a guest speaker at the College Degree Celebration on May 11. Students who want to apply must submit a written script of the graduation speech they plan to give by March 13 at 5 pm to cph@gmu.edu. The competition is based on the content and the quality of the speech, and students should consider the following when preparing their submission:

- describe your overall growth as a student and member of the university community
- think about all facets of your Mason experience
- focus on your graduating class and your experiences together with an eye toward your future
- engage the graduating class and their guests as a whole

For CPH junior faculty, post-docs, and PhD students: Apply Now: Systems Science/Data Science Training to Advance Community Health Research
The application for the Modelers and Storytellers: Transdisciplinary Training to Advance Community Health Intervention Research is now open! This is a no-cost, two-week virtual training to prepare predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees and early career researchers to apply systems and/or data science methods to community-engaged health disparities research. The priority deadline for applications is Monday, March 11 at 11:59 pm PT.
The Modelers and Storytellers Transdisciplinary Training is a summer research education program funded by the National Institutes of Health. The live training will be held via Zoom from Monday, June 17 - Tuesday, July 2.
Call for Celebration of Scholarship Submission Deadline: Friday, April 5
The 2024 Celebration of Scholarship Abstract Submission Form is now available and includes traditional research studies and practice-related investigations. All College of Public Health students are invited to submit an abstract by April 5 to present a scientific poster of their work at the College's Celebration of Scholarship, to be held on April 26 in Peterson Hall from 12-3:30 pm. Please note that faculty approval is required for abstract submissions and that IRB approval will be required to present human subjects research. Please see the abstract submission form for additional information.

Global Education Office: Interest Meeting for Faculty-led Study Abroad Programs |

Academic Affairs is hosting a virtual interest session with Allie Wallace, Associate Director for Global Faculty-Led Programs in the Office of Global Education (GEO), for faculty who are interested in a customized faculty-led abroad program. This session will cover the proposal process, what’s required, expectations as the Program Director, and the year-long timeline.
GEO is accepting customized proposals until the deadline of May 1, 2024, for courses held in winter break, spring, summer, and fall 2025. You can view the proposal requirements on the GEO website.

March is National Nutrition Month and National Social Work Month. Once again, the two departments are hosting a joint event:
Empty Mugs Fundraiser

Join the departments of Social Work and Nutrition & Food Studies for a fundraiser for the World Central Kitchen. Choose a donated mug and fill it with a warm, homemade soup. There is a suggested donation of $5 with all proceeds going to World Central Kitchen.
Note: This food is not provided by a George Mason University-approved caterer. It may contain nuts, dairy, seafood, or other potential food-related allergens or it may be produced in a facility that contains allergens.

Alternating Mondays (3/4, 3/18) at 4 pm and Thursdays (3/14, 3/28) at 8 am | Zoom
Join your faculty colleagues and an associate dean each week for the faculty peer support sessions.The objective of the sessions is to increase connection among faculty and provide a sense of community.
