| Dear Red Wolves Students:
As I reported in my May 8 email, we held back approximately $611K in CARES Act funding for student grants in case there were changes to the CARES Act eligibility guidelines, and to allow time for eligible students to file a FAFSA. At this time, there have not been any substantive changes to the CARES Act eligibility guidelines, but we were able to fund an additional 57 students who established eligibility after our original distribution. We are now in the process of distributing the balance of the CARES Act funds. All eligible full-time students who were enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester will receive the same amount (approximately $100) over the next several days.
There is no application form – the grants have been calculated automatically for each student based on eligibility. To facilitate the payment to students as quickly as possible, we will use the same process we used earlier for distribution of CARES Act grants. If you have any questions about the process, contact the Financial Aid office.
As a reminder to all students, regardless of CARES Act eligibility, A-State has a Student Emergency Fund. It is composed of private gifts to the university and is intended to help our students who are dealing with financial emergencies. All students are eligible to apply for these funds.
I close by thanking the members of the CARES Act Response Team, who put in a lot of work to ensure that we have the best possible plan for students.
Best,
Kelly
