Elevating Survivor Voices

Over past years, Safe Harbor has worked to find more ways to elevate survivor voices. One of the ways in which we do this is consulting with The Voices of Vision Survivor Ambassadors, a group of survivors who act as bridges from Safe Harbor to their communities and vice versa. You may recall last year's I Am Campaign, in which people who have experienced intimate partner abuse told us who they are beyond the abuse and trauma they endured. The I Am Campaign was brought to you by The Voices of Vision Survivor Ambassadors, and this year they bring you Being & Becoming
Being & Becoming
"Each day is a journey for survivors as they take courageous steps toward healing, hope and defining a new life with a new norm. Survival is a state of intentional being. Being true to yourself as you honor you, being true to your loved ones, and being true to the mission of helping others along the way.

Being & Becoming is a journey. Each journey is different and every journey is purposeful. As a survivor, who or what are you intentionally being? And who or what are you intentionally becoming?"
This campaign highlights how survival and healing occur in the form of a journey, and embraces the differences in everyone's path to healing. It helps shed the myth that healing is linear, and validates life's inevitable ups and downs. Being & Becoming is human, honest, and inspiring.

FWAP Rescheduled!

We are happy to share a bit of good news during this difficult time... Fashion with a Passion is moving forward Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Westfield!
We knew we had to postpone in the interest of the health and safety of our community, but we also knew that the funding we budgeted would be needed this year more than ever. So, we can’t wait to kick-off Domestic Violence Awareness Month with you at FWAP 2020! Tickets and more details are available here.

In these difficult times, Safe Harbor is still providing life-saving services to some of our most vulnerable neighbors. Domestic violence victims depend on in-person services, and your thoughts, prayers and support help us continue providing them. You can find more information about how we’ve adapted our services below.
Thank you, and we hope you'll join us for a fabulous night of fashion, food and fun!

2019 Annual Report

"If Safe Harbor’s 2019 were to be summed up in one word, it would be Community. The issue of domestic violence (once considered private and secret) is finally weaving its way into our collective consciousness. Unfortunately, in 2019, we learned the disappointing news that South Carolina now ranks number 5 in the nation for deaths of women by men-up from number 6 in 2018. And while we don’t yet have the answers to how to end domestic violence, the promising news is that we are beginning to have conversations about the complexity of it and how it not only impacts a single person or family, but also impacts our entire community’s safety and quality of life." -Becky Callaham, Executive Director
