Dear friend,
We would like to share an important update regarding National PTA dues. Following the decision made at the National PTA delegates' meeting in June, 2024, a $1.00 increase to the National PTA dues will take effect on July 1, 2025. As a result, the National PTA dues for each member will increase to $3.25. No action is required on your part; simply ensure the additional $1.00 is collected in dues.
We understand that dues changes can impact local PTAs, especially after the recent increase just a year ago. However, this adjustment is crucial to continue supporting the programs and advocacy efforts that benefit all our children and communities nationwide.
To minimize disruptions and maintain consistency for your members, we encourage your PTA to collect the additional $1.00 to cover the National PTA dues increase without changing the local portion of your dues. Maintaining your current local dues ensures stability and makes it easier for members to continue supporting your PTA’s important work.
As always, we recognize that local needs vary, and some PTAs may choose to modify their local dues structure. If your PTA wishes to adjust its local dues, you have the opportunity to do so. Here are the steps to follow:
Review your local PTA bylaws |
Review the current PTA bylaws. Determine if there is a need to amend the local dues portion and if necessary what the new amount should be.
You can choose whether your amended local dues should become effective immediately upon approval, or on August 1, 2025, aligning it with the scheduled automatic dues increase.
Obtain approval for bylaws amendment |
Draft the proposed amendment(s) to your Local PTA bylaws, including any modifications to the local dues, if applicable. Notify the membership at least 30 days in advance of the membership meeting concerning these proposed changes.
Please note that membership approval is a necessary step for all bylaw amendments. For detailed guidance, please refer to txpta.org/bylaws.
| Submit amendments to Texas PTA |
Please submit your amendment(s) along with a clear indication of the approved effective date reflected in the minutes of the membership meeting. Our team will review the proposed amendment(s) and communicate any necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. To facilitate the review and timely processing of your bylaws amendment(s), submit them to Texas PTA as early as possible.
If your PTA plans to implement the local dues change effective July 1, 2025, any amendments must be submitted by May 1, 2025. This deadline is earlier than the usual June 1 deadline for bylaws form submissions, so please be sure to mark your calendars and plan accordingly.
If your PTA has reviewed its standing rules in the past two years, you may be eligible for our Fast Track option. This allows your PTA to amend only the local dues while simultaneously updating both the bylaws and standing rules with no additional review time required. All other amendments will follow the regular processing timeline.

We deeply appreciate your continued dedication to strengthening our PTA community. These changes will help us better serve our schools and families. If you have any questions or need assistance with the bylaws amendment process, please don’t hesitate to contact your assigned FSR, a member of the Board of Directors, or the Leader Engagement team.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to your PTA, and we look forward to continuing our important work together.
Warm regards,
Heidi PeCoy
Texas PTA President-Elect and Governance Committee Chair
