Loves About Brebeuf
I love the warmth in Brebeuf. Every single day, I know there are countless teachers, coaches, and friends who care about me and are always rooting for me. Brebeuf is truly a community; every single person is not simply accepted, but welcomed and cherished with open arms.
Future Plans
My specific college plans are still up in the air because I am still waiting on several school decisions coming out in April. However, I plan to study television, film, and media with a minor or double major in marketing and public relations. I plan to be writing the next generation of Netflix Originals, so look for my name when you’re on a TV binge in the next few years.
Favorite Class
My favorite classes have been AP Psych with Mr. Petty, AP Lang with Ms. Freehauf and Doc Sperry, and AP Spanish with Señora Beck. I loved AP Psych because it was a great way for me to learn about human behavior, which has always interested me, and apply it to my everyday understanding of people in general. AP Lang was special for me because I felt like I really matured as a writer in that class. AP Spanish started off as a huge challenge because, though I have a passion for language, I wasn’t sure I could handle the stress of getting a certificate of bilingualism at the end of the year. However, Señora Beck always works one-on-one with me and makes sure we are all learning at the right pace.

What is your current favorite show or series on TV, Netflix, etc.?
Absolutely, without a doubt my favorite show is This is Us on Hulu. I always say that if I ever am a staff writer for a television network, I want to write a show as powerful as This is Us. I also am addicted to Handmaid’s Tale. Blessed be the fruit.
What is the silliest/most irrational fear you have?
Whenever I do the stairmaster at the gym, I am constantly staring at my feet because I am so scared of tripping and hitting my face on the still-moving machine. I shudder when I think about it.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Spaghetti Pomodoro.
You are now in your final semester at Brebeuf Jesuit. Has it sunk in yet?
It is beginning to sink in as spring break approaches. Because I have applied to all my colleges and curriculum is starting to wrap up, I have had more time to reflect on each school day. Every day I get more and more nostalgic for the little moments; laughing with friends on break, constantly asking Michael Gerritzen or Greg Coleman for a pencil, joking and meeting with teachers, and seeing my class together all in one place. That being said, I can’t wait to see all the amazing things my classmates are going to accomplish, and that part of the close of this chapter is very exciting.
In what way have you changed the most since your freshman year?
I have gotten to know myself so much more. It’s funny, even as an eighth grader you feel like there is nothing left to discover about yourself. But every single day I learn more about how I learn, how I react, and how I can improve. I also have learned what it takes to get what you want. I’ve learned that hard work is the single most competitive advantage, and it also is what creates satisfaction. I’ve learned how to be more open and how to show other people that they matter to me. And mostly, I think I have learned to listen. I am really outgoing and talkative, but my four years at Brebeuf have taught me how to sit back and let the words of others resonate with me.
