Radford University’s Winter Commencement ceremonies are quickly approaching, with the graduate ceremony taking place on Friday, Dec. 13, and the undergraduate ceremony taking place on on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Chrome River training opportunities |

To support the university community with viable resources, the Radford University Office of Accounting Services will offer Chrome River Travel Training and Food and Beverage Policy Training in December.
The December training sessions will be:

Chrome River Travel Training — Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m.
- Food and Beverage Training — Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m.

To attend a session, e-mail travel@radford.edu with the subject line “Training.” In the body of the e-mail, indicate if you would like to attend the Chrome River Travel Training session or the Food and Beverage Policy Training session. You may also indicate in the e-mail that you would like to attend both sessions.
Each Zoom session is limited to 20 participants. Once your e-mail request is approved, you will receive a link to attend the requested session.

Radford University’s January “Our Turn” |

Our Turn, hosted by the Radford University Center for Innovative Teaching & Learning, is an opportunity for faculty, staff and professionals to come together as a teaching and learning community to discuss best teaching practices, participate in essential training, learn about and experiment with new technologies, and become informed about new initiatives on campus. On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Our Turn will host workshops and presentations via Zoom.
If you would like to offer a session at the January event, complete the online form before the end of the day on Monday, Dec. 2. Feel free to share this information with other interested parties.

The Radford University Office of Career and Talent Development is in need of new and gently used suits, pants, blazers, dress shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses, belts and ties for its Career Closet. The Career Closet provides students access to free professional attire for interviews, career fairs, networking events and other career-oriented activities and occasions. The goal of the program is to help students feel prepared, professional and comfortable when making a first impression.

Used clothing should be dry-cleaned or pre-washed, ready-to-wear and appropriate for interviews, networking events and other career opportunities.
The Career Closet also accepts monetary gifts that will be used to purchase clothing for the closet. Donations can be dropped off in Russell Hall, third floor, Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monetary gifts can be made online.
Please let your students know that they are invited to stop by the Career Closet to try on and keep professional attire and accessories. No appointment necessary.

Davis Performance Hall in the Covington Center
Kick off the holiday season with great music, sing-a-longs and cookies. The concert will feature the Symphonic Wind Ensemble in collaboration with singers from all of Radford University’s choirs for an evening of traditional holiday music. Admission and parking are free. The Department of Music will be accepting donations of unwrapped toys to be distributed to local charities.

The Radford University Office of Career and Talent Development is inviting students to participate in CareerEco Virtual Career Fairs, which offer an opportunity for those participants to chat with employers, interview with recruiters and conduct research on career pathways.
Students who want to participate will complete an online profile and register for virtual fairs throughout the year, many of which are scheduled bi-monthly. All information is confidential and free of charge. Please pass this valuable opportunity on to your students.

Office of Career and Talent Development offers micro-internships and resume reviews |
|
|
The Radford University Office of Career and Talent Development is offering opportunities for students and recent graduates to gain experience and polish their resumes as they prepare for their job searches.
Students and grads from all majors can gain valuable experience with micro-internships facilitated via the Parker Dewey platform. These experiences are short-term, paid, typically remote, professional projects that allow participants to build and demonstrate skills while exploring potential career paths.

These micro-internships can take place at any time of year and are used by companies across the United States, ranging from those in the Fortune 100 to emerging start-ups.
Additionally, the Office of Career and Talent Development continues to offer walk-in resume reviews from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in December on the following dates. Please let your students know about this opportunity.
