Hello, first_name!
Punxsutawney Phil predicted that spring is coming early this year, and we're certainly loving the warmer days and sunshine that February is bringing! Whether or not the groundhog was accurate, GSA has lots of indoor and outdoor events to keep you fed, having fun, and serving this semester.
Be sure to read these biweekly emails (along with the Two Week Outlook!), keep up with us on
social media, and regularly check the calendar on
our website (which also has links to an abundance of useful resources).

Join GSA leaders and department representatives for the first assembly meeting of the semester! We'll provide lunch (pizza), updates on what we're working on, and time for you to connect with committees to plan and prepare for events this semester. This month's guest is Dr. Mark Bryant – Director of International Student & Scholar Services – who will share information about all the resources available to international students along with current projects to improve the student experience. Can't join us in person?
Join us on Zoom!
We invite ALL grad students to attend the monthly assembly meetings because this is an important space where you can make your voice heard! We talk about things like policy changes we're working on, upcoming events, and occasionally bring in guest speakers who share about resources just for grad students.

After the river clean-up, head to Slow Rise for some dinner and casual conversation. GSA will cover the cost of pizza for anyone who helped clean up the river. Sign up below to be added to our interest list! Additional details will be sent to this list closer to the project date.

We have a limited number of BEAR Grants available for departments to use for recruitment of new graduate students and promoting collegiality, scholarship, and community among current graduate students and faculty. The Graduate School and GSA jointly fund these grants, which have a maximum of $300. Departments will be expected to contribute an additional 50% of the requested grant amount, making the maximum amount of funding a single department may apply for in one school year $450 ($300 from the BEAR Grant, $150 from the department). To learn more and apply for a BEAR Grant, visit the
GSA website.

The Graduate Writing Center is a resource for all Baylor graduate student writers (online and on-campus) who desire to improve their writing skills. Consultants help with writing projects at all stages of the composition process—generating ideas, organizing, and revising—whether students are working on academic papers, reports, personal statements and applications, papers intended for publication, theses, dissertations, or grant proposals. You can
make an appointment here.

Daily Bread Cafe (located in East Village Dining Commons) offers hot and refrigerated meals to all students, faculty, and staff for only $2 (weekdays, 11am - 2pm).
