                                                                                                           Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017
Please join us tonight to participate in our
6:00 pm Ash Wednesday Service

This morning's early service was powerful. If you missed it, come tonight for the service at 6:00 pm.  With music, Word, reflection, repentance and ashes, it is such a beautiful and Holy way to mark the beginning of the Lenten season for all of us.
In addition, you will hear more about our Lenten emphasis on communal prayer!  Each day at 2:00 pm, wherever you may be, we encourage you to stop and take a few moments to pray. Our lay leaders have created a daily guide, (see below), to get you started.
In prayer, we can renew our deep connection through Christ with others and with our world. Let's spend the next 40 days mindfully aware of how our prayers change us, and affect our church, community and world.
To stengthen our bonds in prayer, we invite you to share an image with us. Take a picture of where you are praying, or an image of what you are praying about.  Share what helps you focus on prayer, it may be lighting a candle?  Or how you are scheduling time to pray, by setting an alarm?  Being accountable to a
friend?  Post your pictures with this hashtag:
#2PMPrayer

By sharing in this way you will know that whether you come into the sanctuary and kneel at the altar or whisper a prayer at your desk or in the car, you are praying alongside others in your church family!   Let this be the year your prayer life flourishes through the bond of community.

Read Across America is tomorrow!  We need lots of readers to help students at East Flora Elementary School celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday tomorrow morning, Thursday, March 2nd.  You simply arrive at EFES by 8:15 am, choose from a selection of books available, then read to a class.  (You will be finished by 9:30.)  The school is so welcoming, the kids LOVE having guests, and afterwards - you will be treated to refreshments in the school library.  For more information, or to let Allison know you plan to attend, CLICK HERE
Kairos is once again asking for our prayer support of their weekend program at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility for Women.  SIGN UP HERE.  Let's uplift and surround these women with prayer!
March's Communion Offering will help fund the Costa Rica Mission Team trip this June.

Our Cub Scouts held their annual Pinewood Derby race in our worship center. Sixty boys, from kindergarten through 5th grade participated; the largest race we've ever had! The boys had a blast, and everyone expressed thanks for our church's support of scouting.
