Research is the cornerstone of advancements in the treatment of pediatric cancer and blood disorders. Qualifying oncology patients at CHKD are offered access to the latest clinical trials available through Children’s Oncology Group (COG)—the world's largest research cooperative.

Dr. Eric Lowe serves as CHKD’s principal investigator for Children’s Oncology Group. He is a member of COG's non-Hodgkin lymphoma steering committee and is currently the study chair for an ongoing international clinical trial.

Tricare Humana is the only insurance provider that covers donor milk for medically fragile infants in the home setting. This coverage extends to those with maternal milk insufficiency as well as infant medical needs. Healthcare providers can work with Tricare-insured families to apply for outpatient donor milk coverage prior to discharge from the hospital and/or on an outpatient basis during clinic appointments.

The King’s Daughters Milk Bank at CHKD is available to assist with the authorization and prescription renewal process. Please contact the Milk Bank at KDMilkBank@CHKD.org or 757-668-MILK (6455) for assistance with obtaining the outpatient donor milk application, required 30-day prescription, and for guidance on the Tricare Humana authorization process.
