Please turn your vehicles off when collecting your mail at the Ranch House. Many local and state governments have adopted legislation that limits vehicle idling to combat increasing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The Colorado Revised Statute 42-4-1206, more commonly known as the "puffer" law, allows law enforcement officers across the state to immediately ticket individuals who have left a vehicle running unattended for any period of time. To avoid excess emissions, turn off the ignition!

Tom's Door Holiday Giving Program |
|
|
Tom's Door, the Family Resource Center and Carbondale Senior Housing, in conjunction with RVR, are again partnering for our 8th annual holiday gift drive for Carbondale Seniors and unaccompanied youth at local high schools to ensure a bright holiday season. Over the last seven years, we have experienced a generous outpouring of contributions. We invited you to participate again in this year's program to share the magic of the holiday season.
If you wish to get involved, visit the RVR Ranch House beginning Saturday, Nov. 4 and choose a key from the wreath on the festive red Tom's Christmas door. Please complete the donor key tag with your contact information and place that tag in the door's mail slot. There are several gift card options including City Market, Target and Wal Mart. Our suggested donation is $50. We ask that you return the gift card's into the door's mail slot no later than Sunday, Dec.10 so that we can distribute them in a timely fashion.
Additional information about Tom's Door and the Family Resource Center is available next to the red door if you are not familiar with these wonderful organizations and the outreach and positive impact they have in our community.
If you have any questions, please contact Sidney Poncelet at 970-309-2393 or sidponcelet@gmail.com. We thank you in advance for your generosity.

Employee Spotlight: Barbara Fuller |
|
|
Employee Spotlight: Want to get to know the Ranch House team better? Check out the Employee Spotlight each week, which will feature a different employee.
Employee Spotlight: Barbara Fuller, Front Desk
Barb was born in Long Island, NY and lived there until she was 17. She then moved to Florida, and got her fitness class certifications in spin, circuit training, and aerobics. After that, she moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1982! She was a lift operator, then an assistant manager of the Crossroads General Store in Snowmass Village. Barb said it was really fun, and busy busy busy! She met a lot of interesting people, including Robin Williams, Bill Murray, Diana Ross, and Ringo Starr. She worked at Lift 2, which isn’t there anymore. Barb said it whipped around SO quickly! She had to lift kids up and tell them to, “Hold on!” She also worked at the Snowmass Club for many years in the athletic department, teaching fitness classes and working at the front desk.
Barb moved to Carbondale and started working at the Ranch House when she was pregnant with her youngest, Ruby (who has been a lifeguard and lifeguard supervisor for years at the Ranch House). Barb worked at the Kid’s Corral, which is now the board room.
Since Barb has been in the RFV for so long, I asked her what she’s noticed has changed since she first moved here. She said, “The growth! There was one traffic light from Snowmass to Glenwood. Also, the affordable housing challenges.”
Barb LOVES pickleball and Nordic skiing, as well as mountain biking, road biking, and hiking.
Barb has two daughters, Emily and Ruby, both have worked at the Ranch House. Emily lives in Denver, working as the City of Aurora Homeless Coordinator, and a Pilates instructor. Ruby is a senior at USC’s Annenberg School of Journalism.
You’ll often see Barb walking around RVR with dogs – she has a business called “Happy at Home Dog Care” for overnight pet sitting and daily walks.
Barb’s favorite holiday is Christmas. She loves the decorating, skiing, and having her daughters visiting. They get pizza on Christmas Eve, open one gift, and then Nordic ski on Christmas day.
Thank you for all you do at the Ranch House, Barb!

Trying to remove plastic from your daily life is challenging. Are some plastics worse than others? Yes. Some of the most problematic plastics - those that are the most toxic or do not have strong recycling end markets - include:
|
-
#3 PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastic cling wrap, shower curtains, inflatable pool toys
- #6 PS (polystyrene) foam food containers, cups, plates
- #7 PC (polycarbonate) some plastic reusable water bottles and baby bottles
- all black plastics, including black plastic take-out food containers
|
Considering the plastics that you use, can you find alternatives to these most difficult plastics? Maybe a more sustainable baby bottle or a cling wrap substitute? For food constrainers, bring your own reusable ones for takeout, and ask the grocery store to put your meat or seafood into a brown paper wrapper instead of a black plastic tray.

Long Range Planning Survey |
|
|
You were recently invited to participate in a survey surrounding a proposed improvement plan to our Ranch House facility. This valuable feedback will be used to shape the final details of a proposal.
The next step in the process is for the Long-Range Planning Committee to discuss the overall plan in light of the survey results.
A big thanks for all who took the time to participate, we will continue to discuss this important community topic in public meetings.
The results are now being shared with the community and can be found at this this link.

RVR members may now bring their leaves and organic waste to the Ranch House parking lot for disposal. Look for the large dumpster towards the back of the parking lot and please be sure to dump your leaves into the dumpster and take your box or bag with you.
Last year the dumpster was out until the week of November 21. We hope to have it available as long as possible again this year. We will keep the community informed of any removal dates before they happen.
|
*This service is offered to RVR homeowners only. We ask that you please communicate this to your contractors.
