Employee Spotlight: Naomi |
|
|
Employee Spotlight: Want to get to know the Ranch House team better? Check out the Employee Spotlight each week, which will feature a different employee. First up – Naomi!
Naomi Mayo, Front Desk
Naomi works at the front desk full time, and it’s her smile and kind demeanor that often greets you at the Ranch House. Naomi was born in Glenwood Springs and raised in Carbondale. She has one older brother, who is currently teaching her to play the trumpet. She has a dog named Oreo, a Schnauzer mix, and an escape artist. Her family adopted him when he was 8 months old. Naomi played volleyball and soccer in high school and continues to play co-ed soccer for fun. She is taking classes at CMC, focusing on her general studies and real estate. Naomi is close with her family, especially one of her cousins. She looks forward to going to church two days per week. Her Favorite show is The Chosen, she likes to read memoirs, and her favorite restaurant in town is La Placita, where she gets pupusas or tacos. For winter fun, Naomi likes to sled. Naomi is always cold! You’ll often see her wearing her puffy jacket at the front desk and she eventually wants to move somewhere warmer. Naomi loves platform shoes and high tops, and the office has voted Naomi with “best hair.” She likes working at the Ranch House because she enjoys meeting new people, seeing the regulars every day, and hearing what’s going on in their lives. “Everyone is so nice!”

Carbondale's longest running annual community event is Potato Days, which is celebrating its 114th year and will take place Oct 6th-8th in downtown Carbondale. There will be games, a parade, and many activities to celebrate all things potato. Of course, there will be lots of potatoes to eat. And all are grown and harvested locally. Amid growing concern over food security and sustainability, the humble potato plays an important role. According to the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization, potatoes produce more nutritious food more quickly, on less land, and in harsher climates than any other major crop. So come on out and celebrate the spud.
