Dear Tufts community members,
Tufts University is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for every member of our community. Today, we are writing to share important information we have learned regarding Sam Peck of Soarbody Therapeutics, a massage therapy provider in Somerville. We understand that Tufts students and other community members have sought treatment from him over the years. While many individuals describe the practice positively, some have raised concerns about their experiences with Soarbody, including reports of inappropriate comments, conduct, and practices.
We have engaged the nationally respected firm Cozen O’Connor to partner with our Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) to conduct a review of Soarbody’s interactions with Tufts community members. We are writing to you today out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of the safety and welfare of the Tufts community. Based on the information that we have gathered thus far, we strongly advise that Tufts community members consider an alternative to Soarbody Therapeutics as their provider.
In addition to this notification, Tufts has taken the following steps to help protect our community:
* Referred information to appropriate law enforcement for further investigation.
* Issued a no-trespass order barring Mr. Peck from campus.
* Issued a cease-and-desist order prohibiting Soarbody from soliciting the Tufts community.
* Once our review is complete, we will share the relevant information with the state massage therapy licensing board.
We encourage anyone who may have had a concerning experience with Soarbody to contact OEO to access support resources and/or to file a report using the secure online portal, Ethicspoint, which has an anonymous option. Concerns about potential criminal conduct can be reported directly to Tufts University Police, which is working collaboratively with the Somerville Police Department, by phone (617-627-6911), in person, or anonymously by using TUPD’s secure online portal.
Sincerely,
Yolanda Smith
