Dear colleagues,
I am writing to inform you of two important changes in the leadership of the Office of the Vice President for Research.
First, it is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Nina Maung-Gaona, who served for many years as Stony Brook’s Associate Vice President for Research, and who has spent the past year at the National Science Foundation working for the new TIP directorate, has agreed to return to Stony Brook in a new role as Senior Associate Vice President for Research Development and Partnerships. In this new role, Nina will continue to oversee the Office of Proposal Development, and in addition, she will lead a new office focused on research strategy and partnerships. The goal of this new office will be to help Stony Brook faculty build consortia to be successful at the kind of large initiatives developed by the TIP directorate, but also by many other funding agencies.
As a consequence of Nina’s new role, I am launching a search for an Associate Vice President for Research Operations. We have posted information on the position, application process, and the composition of the search committee on the OVPR website. The position will close for applications on January 15, 2024.
The Associate Vice President for Research Operations will serve as a senior member of the OVPR leadership team and will oversee our day-to-day operations as well as provide data-driven strategic planning for the infrastructure necessary to support our continued growth in research activities, including active engagement in policy development. This is a key role for OVPR and for our research community.
You may apply for this position by clicking here or you may nominate individuals for the role by emailing jennifer.rossler@stonybrook.edu.
I would like to thank the members of our search committee and look forward to sharing more as this search progresses. Sincerely,
