Enriching research. Expanding possibilities.
CRL Connect l December 12, 2016
The topic of the Fall 2016 issue of CRL's Focus on Global Resources newsletter is "Official Gazettes & Civil Society Information." With support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, CRL has developed an open-web repository that provides access to the official gazettes of ten countries cited in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index. James Simon surveys the history and challenges of collecting and preserving these important primary source materials.

TRAIL has completed digitizing the reports issued by the Office of Saline Waters between 1955 and 1972. The Office is charged with supporting practical research into the economical production of water suitable for agriculture, industry, and consumption. TRAIL identifies, acquires, catalogs, digitizes and provides unrestricted access to U.S. government agency technical reports.
A recording and PowerPoint presentation of the recent CRL webinar, CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and the "Long Tail": Preserving at-Risk Publishers, is now posted. Recordings of many more events are available on CRL's YouTube channel.
Many major microform and reprint sets and collections are too costly for individual institutions to purchase, and are not usually available through interlibrary loan. Through the Purchase Proposal Program, libraries nominate microform and hard copy collections for CRL purchase. Participation in this cooperative acquisitions program is one of the benefits of CRL membership. This year, six collections were approved for purchase, at a total cost of $138,643.
