Presentation on Volunteer Retention
A note our Exectuive Director, Ellen Osborne:
Through my work in a master's degree program in nonprofit studies at the University of Richmond, I have researched volunteer retention at community-based literacy organizations like LVCA. I will be delivering a presentation on this research at the conclusion of the semester.
I am looking for tutors to listen to a practice presentation at LVCA on Thursday, April 12 at 1 PM. I have been discovering that academia and real life do not always align, and therefore I would appreciate your opinions on the subject! Please sign up here so I know how many to expect.
Thank you.

Countdown to Wordplay

The 11th annual Wordplay competition is just weeks away - Thursday, April 19. Audience tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at our office, at The Paramount box office, or online.
We still need a few volunteers to make the evening a great success. If you're interested in helping out, please email our volunteer coordinator, Dana, at volunteers@literacyforall.org.
We have a fabulous variety of raffle prizes this year. For $5 you can enter to win a TV and sound bar from Crutchfield, a kayaking trip with Rivanna River Co., beautiful jewelry from Kendra Scott, dinner at Tavern & Grocery, and much more! Tickets can be purchased in advance, at our office, and you do not have to be present to win.

Check Out Photos from Voices of Adult Learners

On Thursday, March 22 adult students from all over the community came together to share their stories at the 2018 Voices of Adult Learners event.
LVCA had nine students whose stories were selected for publication in this year's book. They were each given the opportunity to read their story at the Virginia Festival of the Book event.
Please click on this link to see the pictures from the evening. Many thanks to photographer Chip King for taking these photos and making them available for all to see and download.
The book is available for purchase on Amazon.com for $5.95.
