On March 4, MSU welcomed its 22nd president, Kevin Guskiewicz. In an email to the Spartan community, President Guskiewicz shared his deep commitment to MSU’s world-class faculty, curious students, dedicated staff, visionary administrators and devoted trustees in advancing knowledge and transforming lives.
He also join us in hoping your students had a great spring break, and are ready for March, a Spartan’s favorite month (all things GREEN)! These are great days to be a Spartan, and it’s important to remind our students of responsible celebrations. Please remind your student of the medical amnesty policy and that MSU has supports for students with questions about their own or others’ behaviors. It’s also important to remember that all choices have consequences, and we hope students make good choices.
Additionally, your perspective and thoughts are important to us, and we want to hear from you about what we offer, how we share information and resources and how you access and use that information. Watch for a survey coming to your inbox March 11 and participate for a chance to win Spartan Cash for your student! We look forward to hearing from you and serving you better.
Take good care,
Laurin

FAFSA Update
The U.S. Department of Education has announced that schools will not receive 2024-25 FAFSA information until the first half of March. As soon as MSU begins receiving FAFSA data from the Department of Education, it can begin the process of creating 2024-25 financial aid packages for students. This process usually takes several weeks. Returning students can currently see an estimated financial aid package, based on previous year FAFSA data, in their student portal. This estimate will update once packages are generated using 2024-25 FAFSA information, which is updated regularly here.

For all commencement related information including parking, when doors open, how long ceremonies last, etc., visit commencement.msu.edu.

Residence Hall Information
Current First-Year Student On-Campus Housing Sign-Up
The 2024-25 Housing Contract is now available in your student's My Housing account. Contracts must be signed by March 8 to receive a sign-up window. In March, students who signed their contracts will be emailed a randomly assigned, specific 24-hour sign-up window to select their space. Once a space is selected, it is final. Room changes will not be made until after move-in.
Students can select spaces with a roommate by creating a Roommate Group in My Housing ahead of selection. On-campus apartments are not part of the housing options for current first-year students.
Current first-year students should not sign any off-campus leases, housing agreements, contracts, etc., as they are required to live on campus unless approved for a housing exception or an approved group housing environment.
For more Information, visit liveon.msu.edu/residence-hall-sign-up .
Rock the Block!
Is your current first-year student interested in grabbing a suite with friends for the 2024-25 academic year? What about a block of rooms on the same floor in Brody? Live On makes signing up with friends easy with Rock the Block! Have your student join us March 20 at 1855 Place to block off a series of rooms so they can have the perks of living with their close friends.
If your student can't make it to Rock the Block, don't worry! They can still select roommates and suitemates, subject to space availability, during general sign-up or book a meeting with a housing specialist to go over their options!
Spring Move Out

Prior to leaving campus for the semester, all residents must check out and turn in keys to their Service Center. Should your student require a late stay Friday, April 26, or Saturday, April 27, they can request one in their My Housing account. More details about this process will be provided later in the semester. For more Information, visit liveon.msu.edu/move_out.

MSU Department of Police and Public Safety
Students are encouraged to take the recently released active violence incident training. We understand this training may be difficult for some to complete following the violence our community experienced. Keeping this in mind, community members are encouraged to complete it on their own time, at the time that works best for them.
