Study Abroad Spring Expo

January 24 | 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. | University Hall Atrium

Come learn about our summer and semester study abroad programs while grabbing a sweet, international treat! Study abroad staff and peer advisors will be on hand to answer your questions about LMU programs and to share more about the many opportunities to earn credit abroad! Afterwards, drop by ONIF to learn about study abroad scholarships &f fellowships to fund your trip!

Reminder: Walk-In Hours for the Fulbright UK Summer Institutes
January 22 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are three-to-four week programmes for US freshmen and sophomores. Participants can explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university. Students may walk-in with general questions OR bring drafts of their applications for review. 
ONIF is in University Hall, Suite 1879. Once you enter UHall, head towards the Crimson Lion. Before you reach the restaurant, enter the elevator lobby on your right and walk through the metal door marked “1762-1859”. Walk towards and enter the LMU Extension office in UH 1863. Suite 1879 is tucked in the back of the Extension offices.

All or Multiple Disciplines
Donald Strauss Scholarship- Campus Deadline: February 7. The Donald Strauss Scholarship awards approximately 14 California college sophomores and juniors who reflect a strong, lifelong commitment to public service and education. LMU students have the opportunity to design a public service project. The scholarship will provide you with $15,000 to fund your service project (Up to $7K can be used for educational expenses, including tuition/room and board). UCLA Dream Summer Fellowship- Deadline: February 15. Participants are placed within social justice based organizations for 10 weeks and work closely with their host organization to incorporate and strengthen the role of immigrant issues alongside the organization’s social justice work. Dream Summer fellows receive a $5,000 fellowship award for their participation in the program, leadership and professional development trainings, and become part of a national alumni network of 600+ individuals.
South Bay Business Women’s Association Scholarships- Deadline: February 28. Scholarship awards may start at $1500 each and may increase based on sponsorship support. Who May Apply: Women who are college students who have completed at least one year of study, or students continuing with post-graduate work may apply. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Applicants must reside in the Greater South Bay area.  Specific cities include San Pedro, Wilmington, Harbor City, Carson, Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Torrance, Lomita, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, Gardena, Lawndale, El Segundo and Westchester. 

College of Business Administration
Venture for America Fellowship- Deadline: January 29! VFA is a two-year fellowship program for recent grads who want to work at a startup and create jobs in American cities. Fellows learn important startup skills at our five-week Training Camp, apply for jobs within our vetted company network, and work for two years as full-time, salaried employees in one of 18 cities. When Fellows are ready to start a company—be it two years after college or ten—VFA has the resources (like a crowdfunding competition, accelerator, and seed fund) to help make that dream a reality.

CHCI’s Scholar-Intern Program with the Society of Human Resource Management- Deadline: February 28. Interested in the field of human resource management? This program will immerse you in the central functions of the SHRM organization from employment, benefits, employee relations, training, and performance management. In addition, your scholarship will help with college expenses like tuition, room and board, and books. Amount: $2,500 one-time scholarship; plus $12/hour at internship | Focus Area: Open to all fields; must be interested in human resources | Location: Los Angeles, CA and Dallas, TX | Internship: Summer 2018 (10 weeks).


School of Education
Education Pioneers Summer Fellowship- Deadline: February 12. The EP Summer Fellowship is a 10-week summer experience that previews the impact you can make in the education sector and lays the foundation you need to become a lifelong leader. The 10-week summer placement offers a $7,200 stipend. The Summer Fellowship might be right for you if...You're a current graduate student seeking a meaningful summer experience; You're entering graduate school in the fall and want to get diverse pre-graduate school experience; or You’re a professional looking to explore the education space and make a career transition with a short-term opportunity. 
Other Notable Opportunities
Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR EIP)- Deadline: February 1. The distinctive feature of the Leadership Alliance is its core activity – mentoring across the critical transitions along the entire academic pathway. The mentoring begins at the undergraduate level with the Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR EIP), our flagship program. The SR EIP introduces students to the world of research-based careers by providing hands-on research experiences in all academic disciplines – in the biological sciences, the physical sciences, math and engineering, the humanities and social sciences. These invaluable summer research experiences take place at the country’s top institutions.

Columbia University's Summer Program for Under-Represented Students (SPURS)-Deadline: February 2.The SPURS Program is designed to expand the pool of medical and biomedical research applicants from diverse and economically disadvantaged groups whose members have been underrepresented in medicine and biomedical research. Eligibility: US citizens or permanent residents, Undergraduate student. Please note that preference will be given to students who are rising juniors or seniors,  GPA of 3.2 or above, Underrepresented minority students (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, or Pacific Islander) and/or students from economically or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds (such as first generation college attendee or low income), and Interested in pursuing graduate education in a biomedical field (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD). Participants receive $4,000.00 stipend for living expenses.
