Weekley COVID update
from Mrs. Pape and Mrs. Monty in the Health Office

  • There have been NO reported COVID positive cases in the building this week!
  • As always please monitor your student for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19.  See below for when to report illness.
  • If you, your student or members of your immediate household are being tested for COVID, you must stay home until the results are received.
Rules for students who are sick

  • If your student is experiencing any COVID like symptoms, runny nose and or nasal congestion, headache, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, loss of taste and/or smell, fever, chills, shortness of breath, coughing, extreme fatigue, body aches, chills, rash, cold or flu-like symptoms.  Please keep them home.
  • A doctor's note will be required to return to school if sent home from the Health Office or if the nurses feel the symptoms warrant being checked by the doctor.
  • All students must be symptom-free for 72 hours before returning to school.
New Close Contact Quarantine Policies

  • Lunch will now have additional supervision with seating assignments.
  • The monitors will do checks to be sure all students are in their seats every 5-8 minutes, ensuring there is never close contact for more than 15 minutes.  This will eliminate the need to quarantine the entire class if there is a positive student.
  • If at any time more than 1 person tests positive in a lunch group within a 14-day period we will return to the full lunch group quarantine.
  • All other close contacts will be evaluated by the Health Office and a 14-day quarantine required if it is determined they were in close contact for more than 15 minutes within 6 feet of a positive case. There is no testing out of a 14-day quarantine.
If your student has tested positive for COVID 19 in the last 90 days and we contact you regarding a close contact in the school, your student will not need to quarantine if you provide proof of past illness.  We must have your students positive test results or a note from your healthcare provider for verification.

Travel Policy

  • Students who travel outside of Illinois will need to quarantine for 10 days OR get a COVID test on day 6 and they may return on day 7 with a negative test.
  • Fenwick reserves the right to put in place stricter restrictions if there is evidence of COVID spread within the school due to travel.

Reporting COVID symptoms, exposure or positive test

  • We are grateful to our Fenwick Community for helping to keep all students, faculty and staff safe, we could not have been successful with in-person learning without all of your help.
  • Please answer the phone if your Local Health Department is calling.
  • If your student is considered a close contact they will need to complete a daily screening and the Health Department will issue a return to school letter when the quarantine is complete.
  • We ask that you continue to report any COVID-like symptoms, positive tests and exposures to the Health Office immediately so we are able to perform contact tracing in the school.  The faster we know about positive cases the better our results will be.
  • If you are aware of any large gatherings or parties where students were not social distancing or where students may have come into contact with a positive person, please contact the Health Office at ext 170 or 189.
  • As always, all information is confidential and will be shared with the proper board of health.
  • Do not hesitate to call the Health Office with any questions or concerns
