113th Congress Coming to a Close
Congress will likely adjourn this week after passing a spending bill to fund most of the government through September 30, 2015. Many important issues such as the primary care funding cliff and other funding initiatives needed to prevent and end homelessness will be left unaddressed, leaving HCH advocates with their hands full next year. Sign up for the Mobilizer and get to know your new and returning public officials. Use this template to send a letter to your members of Congress and look for emails from Health Policy Organizer Dan Rabbitt about other ways you can be involved in our advocacy work.

Member Spotlight: Baltimore HCH Expands
This month we celebrate Baltimore's Health Care for the Homeless as they add 3,000 square feet to their downtown headquarters in order to accommodate new behavioral health offices and meeting rooms. The fact that Health Care for the Homeless can now bill Medicaid for basic health services means it can spend grants and donations on expansion efforts such as these, as well as add 35 staff members in the coming year. Inside the Council Website: Advocacy Toolkit
Integrating service and advocacy is a hallmark of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council. The aim is to educate policymakers about homelessness so that myths and stereotypes can give way to better-informed decision-making and resource allocation. The Advocacy Toolkit pages - and especially the Advo-Kit resource - give providers and others the tools they need to participate in policy and advocacy.
