Free "Ask A Lawyer" Event: Partnerships to Bring Access to Justice to You
My office has partnered with the Orange County Bar Association to host a series of “Ask A Lawyer” events throughout Orange County. Each free "Ask a Lawyer" event includes a panel of attorneys that will take questions regarding a variety of legal topics. My office will present about our Self Help Center and the services we provide. These events are sponsored by the OCBA Lawyer Referral and Information Service, the only Florida Bar approved lawyer referral service in Florida.

Our partnership with the Orange County Bar Association highlights how my office continues to work together with stakeholders in providing access to the justice system for the citizens of Orange County. Since the creation of the Self Help Center, OCBA has provided attorneys for consultations at only $1.00 a minute.
The first "Ask A Lawyer" event will be on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Engelwood Neighborhood Center at 6123 La Costa Drive, Orlando, FL 32807. The event is free and topics will include Real Estate law, Tax law, and Bankruptcy law.

Clerk of Courts Joins the Fight to Live United

I am proud to announce that the Clerk's 2018 Live United campaign officially kicked off this month and will run through September. Each year the Clerk’s Office joins the fight to help those in need in our community through the Heart of Florida United Way Campaign. And this year we hope to continue the trend of once again increasing the amount of money we are able to raise. Last year through the generosity of our staff, we were able to raise more than $27,000. While there are dozens of organizations that receive support from United Way, my office’s outreach priorities are mental health, domestic violence, and access to justice.
Instructional Video of the Month: Clerk Overview

The "Connect with the Clerk" video series was developed to educate and improve the customer experience. The series helps answer frequently asked questions with short, informative videos and provides step by step instructions for Clerk of Courts topics in English and Spanish. Each month, we have highlighted one of these videos.

This month's featured video explains what the Clerk's Office does, the services we provide, the community service and outreach we do, and more. Click below to view the video.

My Health Matters Health & Wellness
Lunch & Learn

On May 25, my office hosted a free "My Health Matters: Health & Wellness Lunch & Learn" in the Orange County Courthouse Jury Room to spread awareness about mental health and wellness as part of Mental Health Month. More than 100 people attended, spoke to mental health vendors and organizations, and listened to the insightful and informative presentations from Dr. David Cavalleri from the Mental Health Association of Central Florida and others. We were joined by the Mental Health Association of Central Florida, Centra Care, Cigna, Orlando Health, The Standard, Primary Care Action Network, and the YMCA.
I sincerely thank everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.
Connect with the Clerk Career Expo

My office held a Career Expo recently to share with the community what it’s like to work at the Clerk’s Office. We had a small panel of employees answer questions for about 30 people who attended the Expo at the National Entrepreneur Center. If you’re interested in working for the Clerk’s Office, you can always find the latest job listings on our website.

June Star Performer
Congratulations to Liza Garcia, our Star Performer for the month of June. Liza is a deputy clerk in the Criminal Division. Teammates say she is a fantastic team player who is always willing to help others.

"You could go to her with any issue, and she will always have a smile on her face. Everyone on the team comes to her for answers or feedback. She treats everyone with kindness and graciously offers her time until their issue is resolved. She is very responsible and goes above and beyond in a respectful and professional way. "
