Recommended Read
"There There" by Tommy Orange

"A city is a place, is a collection of architecture, is neighborhoods, is happenings, is a multiplicity of voices. In the "There There", the city is Oakland, CA, and the voices are those of urban (Indigenous) Natives. What starts as individual vignettes ends in a kind of complicated coherence, where the reader is left hovering with possibilities. Though many questions are answered just as many are left open. There There is both postmodern and warm-hearted. Orange calls out one of his objectives, to bring Native stories into the 21st century, through the story of one of his characters. For fans of Louise Erdrich and Kali Fajardo-Anstine, and anyone interested in learning more about contemporary Native American experience."
