An invitation to Grow your Faith this Advent
Thanksgiving is one week away but we are already turned toward a different celebration. All around us is ready to proclaim, “Christmas is Here!” However, we, as a people of faith, have a journey to make before we can truly bust out the presents and celebrate.
We must make our way through Advent.
Advent is a season of expectant hope. We are waiting, but we wait in hope and we wait with expectancy. We wait seeking. We wait, and we prepare.  Advent is one of my favorite seasons because it is a season that invites us into something. We are invited, not to the decorating/present-buying/tree-trimming/grocery-shopping/frantic-family time of Christmas. No; we are invited into something more quiet, more simple, more faithful, more disciplined. We are invited into a time of seeking God and trusting that God will show up!
This Advent season, You Are Invited! You are invited to dive into this season alongside your church family. Together, we will read a daily devotion from Enuma Okoro’s book, “Silence and Other Surprising Invitations of Advent.” Begin reading the meditation for Day 1 on December 1st. (If you did not order a book, you can download a Kindle version HERE) Worship will be shaped around our reading together. For those who may not have a small group on Sunday morning, I invite you to join me in the Hope classroom, (inside the church office), beginning December 3rd for 5 weeks to further reflect on our reading. Children and youth all have activities planned so that they may also be invited to more fully live into this season.
Space has been made for all of us to live into this time in our Christian year to seek the invitations of God. I hope you will commit to this time. I hope to read alongside you. I hope to see you each Sunday as we worship, and I hope you will accept the invitation to expectantly wait, to seek, to prepare, and to receive.
  Peace in Christ,
Dawn
