Annual research awards top record-breaking $244M

During fiscal year 2022, researchers at Notre Dame received $244 million in research award funding, surpassing the previous record of $222.7 million set in fiscal year 2021. Read about the largest awards and the colleges and schools that received them.

Heather Reynolds testifies before House Select Committee 

Heather Reynolds, managing director of the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities, testified before the House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth on July 28. The hearing focused on evaluating the effectiveness of current safety net programs, with an emphasis on how those programs helped Americans during the pandemic.

Tariffs on China and the effect on US inflation

A USA Today article on July 25 highlighted President Joe Biden's quandary of lifting or keeping tariffs on China. In 2018, then-president Donald Trump imposed tariffs against Chinese imports. Now Biden is faced with the decision to lift or keep tariffs against China. Jeffrey Bergstrand, professor of finance in the Mendoza College of Business, weighed in on the effects of repealing or retaining tariffs and the impact on inflation.
