Two faculty appointed to prestigious editorial boards

Mary Beth Kurz and Yongjia Song, have been appointed associate editors of the Journal of Manufacturing Systems and the INFORMS Journal on Computing, respectively.

Student recognized with prestigious national award

Emily Huffer received the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers James W. Barany Student Award for Excellence. She was the single recipient of this national award based on her academic merit and extensive involvement within Clemson University industrial engineering.

Inspired by her sister’s death, industrial engineering graduate helps raise $662,000

Industrial engineering major Morgan Witherspoon devoted large chunks of her time to Clemson Miracle, a student-run organization that raises money and awareness for Prisma Health Children's Hospital-Upstate. She was inspired by her older sister, Jenna, who was 12 years old when a brain tumor claimed her life two days after Christmas in 2006.

Former department chair J. Cole Smith named dean at Syracuse University

J. Cole Smith, a Clemson University graduate who returned to his alma mater five years ago and became one of its top administrators, is heading for Syracuse University, where he will serve as dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Engineering Expo draws 138 students to Clemson University

A group of second-grade students built paper airplanes, designed assembly lines, and shot straws into hula hoops as part of an effort to introduce them to STEM concepts.

Current students, alumni and friends are invited to the IE Homecoming Tailgate to help cheer on the Tigers. We’ll meet Saturday, Oct. 26, three hours prior to kickoff in the Freeman Hall courtyard.
