Start your child's exciting journey towards college or advanced education right now with a special savings opportunity called a College Savings 529 Plan***. This plan lets you put money aside for their advanced education, and its competitive rates ensure your investment earns great returns so they can have what they need when the time comes.
What if, after all this saving, college, trade school, or advanced education ends up not being their thing? That is ok. Thanks to new legislation, which goes into effect January 1, 2024, the structure of 529 plans is changing. With this change, up to $35,000 of the money saved will be moved to a Roth IRA account. Your child can access this money once they turn 18 for the other non-educational adventures they may experience along the way!

Student Loans Have You Stressed?
Ready or not, federal student loan payments are back. After more than 3 years on pause, 43 million student loan borrowers resumed having payments due this month.
Take these five steps today:
  1. Confirm your servicer: many servicers changed during the payment pause.

  2. Update your info: once you know who your servicer is, log into or register for an account on their website and confirm your contact information is accurate.

  3. Pay attention to correspondence: your servicer will be in touch (if they haven’t already) with your billing statement soon.

  4. Explore your options: if your payment amount is stressing you out, explore your options!

  5. Review your budget: once you know what your payment will be, look at your spending plan closely to determine if it will fit.

USCCU Donates $500 to The Nashville Food Project

We are pleased to share earlier this month we were able to make a $500 donation to The Nashville Food Project - thanks to YOU! This contribution was made possible through a collaborative effort, with $300 raised by members and employees taking advantage of the new membership offering from BJ's Wholesale. For each new BJ's membership opened, the corporation donated $10 back to the credit union. Because of YOU, we received a check from BJ's in the amount of $300 to be donated to a charity or organization of our choosing.
We selected the Nashville Food Project, and USCCU wanted to jump in on the great work of our members and employees. The credit union donated an additional $200, bringing our total contribution to the Nashville Food Project to $500. The Nashville Food Project is dedicated to uniting people in the pursuit of growing, preparing, and distributing nourishing food, with a mission to foster community bonds and combat hunger within the city. US Community Credit Union strongly supports this cause and we are thrilled to have been able to make this donation, especially as the holidays approach. Thank you for helping make this possible.
