Staycation for Spring Break
With the good news of COVID-19 declining and more people getting vaccinated, thoughts may turn to travel and a more ‘normal’ Spring Break, which is next week — March 29 – April 2. However, COVID is still in our communities, and travel increases the risk of further spread. Following local, state, and federal public health official guidance, CSUDH strongly advises students, faculty, and staff to stay close to home this Spring Break.
Please note the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s current travel advisory:
- Travel locally, within a 120-mile radius from your place of residence.
- Get tested 1-3 days prior to traveling and 3-5 days after return. Do not travel if your test is positive. If positive upon return, you must isolate for a minimum of 10 days (and until symptoms improve and you are without a fever for at least 24 hours, if symptomatic illness occurs). You also must inform all close contacts of their potential exposure within the 48 hours preceding the onset of symptoms or within 48 hours of your positive test result if asymptomatic.
- A 10-day quarantine is required after returning to Los Angeles County from travel outside California, even if you have a negative COVID-19 test, or you do not test at all.
The above advisories apply regardless of an individual’s vaccination status.
